After completion of the four online training modules you are ready to incorporate elements of the Yoga Way to Birth (YWB) teaching method into childbirth education classes you are teaching or hoping to teach. However, you are not able to teach the full class curriculum, or have permission to offer classes using the brand name “Yoga Way to Birth”. If you are interested in accessing the full curriculum, you are required to become a certified YWB instructor.

  • Submit $75 certification enrollment fee
  • Attend 3-day non-residential advanced teacher training
  • Teach 6 YWB classes in your community
  • Six 50-minute phone/Skype mentoring sessions with senior YWB instructor (one per class)

Local apprentices: Observe/co-teach at least one full series and submit 6 reports reflecting on your experience observing/co-teaching (one per class)

Non-local apprentices: Submit one 20-minute recording of your teaching per class for review and supervision (six recordings total). Topics to record will be assigned.

Certification will be awarded upon completion of the above requirements.

The total cost for the certification program (includes enrollment fee) is $795.

Upon certification, teachers are asked to carry liability insurance (annual premium ~$150-200) and pay an annual membership fee of $75 (covers costs for website maintenance, marketing etc).

Teachers will be listed on the YWB website and receive information about community resources for marketing. Certified teachers are given the option of joining the YWB business team which offers additional professional opportunities.

Payment can be submitted over the course of 4 months at $80. If this is still a hardship, we are happy to discuss other options.
No, you don’t have to have received formal training as a yoga instructor. While this is beneficial, it is not a requirement for our training. The training covers alignment principles, basic poses, and safety precautions for teaching yoga asana to pregnant women.
